FELTED WOOL WALLETS

Fri., March 21, 2025 | 12-4 PM

Wet felting is an ancient and magical art form which utilizes fluffs of wool and water to create a dense fabric known as felt. In this workshop, Nanette will guide participants through the felting process to create colorful, one-of-a-kind, felted wool wallets. The wet-felting technique is easy, playful, and produces surprising original designs. The resulting wallets make great keepers of spare change, earbuds (in-ear headphones), keys or other small treasures and are perfect for gift giving. In this workshop, each participant will have the opportunity to create 2 wallets. All supplies and tools are included. Wooden button closures are included, but participants are welcome to bring 1-2 of their own decorative buttons (3/4″ to 1” diameter).

NOTE: Bring 2-3 thick old bath towels. OPTION: Bring an apron & vinyl/latex) gloves to keep dry.

INSTRUCTOR: Nanette Zeller earned a master’s degree in wildlife biology from NC State University. She found her artistic voice in 2005 when she combined her skills to create nature-inspired mixed-media textile art. Heavily embellished with thread to create beautiful textures, her art has been displayed in both solo & group shows at local & national exhibits. In addition to numerous exhibit awards, Nanette is a 3-time recipient of the Artist Support Grant offered by the NC Arts Council. Before starting her art quilting career, Nanette spent 10 years working as a free-lance technical editor for sewing & quilting book publishers.
